Magnetite’s retrofit double glazing solutions are a quick and cost effective way to insulate the existing glazing against excessive heat and noise. As a retrofit solution, installation times are reduced, saving cost for the building owner and minimising disruption for the tenant. Magnetite’s solutions can improve the energy efficiency of the glazing by up to 70% and reducing noise through the windows and doors by up to 70%.
Magnetite has been operating for over 20 years providing glazing upgrades for hospital, hotels, schools, office building, restaurant, heritage properties and government building. Magnetite offers a range of products such as Magnetite – retrofit double glazing, Soundtite – secondary window and door system, Solartite – high-performance solar films and Sealtite – acoustic and weatherproofing seals.
Here are some of Magnetite’s glazing upgrade projects:
Phebra manufactures and packages pharmaceuticals for the global market. Their head office and plant in Lane Cove was so hot even with tinted glazing they lost a two meter perimeter around the interior of the building due to the excessive heat. This reduced the floor area of the building considerably and caused issues in the packaging area which is tightly regulated by the food and drugs administration board. With the assistance of a thermal engineering consultant, Magnetite was deemed a vital part of their facility upgrade. 277 windows in a floor to ceiling curtain wall were treated to reduce the heat load through the glass and improve the thermal efficiency.
Park Royal Hotel
Located in the heart of the Darling Harbour precinct in Sydney, the Park Royal Hotel was looking to improve the comfort of their rooms which face west and are on the noisy City West Link. After a trial room and some internal testing, Magnetite was approved to install a secondary glazing system to 103 rooms to reduce both the noise and heat coming through the existing windows.
Zagame’s House is a new hotel on Melbourne’s trendy Lygon Street. Despite the hotel already being built with double glazing, the owner was horrified by the noise levels during a preopening inspection. To resolve this matter, Magnetite retrofitted 122 windows and doors with an acoustic glazing system. The job was completed ahead of schedule and the client could not be more relieved.
